Joining the NTFW
The National Training Federation for Wales represents the interests of
Learners and Training Providers in Wales to inform the education and training
agenda to ensure that
- The interests of members are served rigorously and effectively
- The aims of the Welsh Assembly Government are achieved along with
a national skills strategy that meets the needs of employers and learners.
- That 'best practice' is followed by the sector and shared amongst
members
- That the highest standards of delivery are achieved and maintained
at all levels
Its President is Lord Rowlands CBE former Under Secretary of State for
Wales and Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The NTFW
is led by an elected National Board chosen from member organisations which,
in turn, is supported by a structure of Regional Boards covering South
East, West, Mid and North Wales.
It has used this structure to achieve the following:-
- Created a strong networking pattern which enables member organisations
to meet regularly, exchange ideas and share best practice.
- Established effective communications on behalf of the Sector with
The Welsh Assembly Government up to Ministerial Level.
- Ensured that the Sector is regularly consulted by WAG about policy
matters, including those concerned with funding.
- Through its member organisations it has developed a particularly strong
network of employer links throughout Wales.
- Ensured meaningful 'stakeholder' relations with eg Dells, Estyn, Dysg,
SSDA, CCETs etc
- Enabled the Sector to be represented on, for example, LLUK , WAG Educational
Select Committee, WBL Improvement Plan Policy Board etc.
- Has appointed a Director of Policy and Strategy and also funded a
Researcher at the National Assembly to advise upon forthcoming legislation
and issues of importance to training providers.
- Produced a management training manual for the sector and arranged
many seminars including an annual conference at which speakers of note
eg Minister, Deputy Minister, Chair Elwa, Director Learning and Strategy
of DELLS etc. have appeared.
