Learners from Coleg Cambria Northop recently got the opportunity to have a go at different activities using Music Technology, Lego Kit, 2D Animation, Modular Construction Kit and a portable Kitchen using the ‘Have a Go’ equipment.

The event supported by Cambria Training, CITB and NTFW saw over 25 Additional Learning Needs (ALN) students who have varying disabilities and impairments get a chance to have a hands on session that would benefit them greatly to better understand the world of work as part of their Employability session.

During the fun filled morning, they got to make their own music and rhythms, make Lego robots move using coding software, create short animations using drawings and objects, omelette making and build a giant tetrahedron. During the activities, the learners displayed different skills including teamwork, organisational, creative and digital skills.

Helen Young, tutor at Coleg Cambria said:
“The workshops were very engaging, each student participated in the tasks, the sessions were fun, stimulating, well prepared and the students had various activities they could choose to carry out. The animation was a huge success.”

Learner Harry Scott who enjoyed the workshops added:
“It was very cool to see how the programing worked with the Lego robot by putting the instruction in and seeing if the robot would follow them.

“2D Animation was funny, I enjoyed it, I made a robot picture” added Aaron Revill-Roberts.
