Session 1

1. Future Apprenticeship Programme for Wales

Due to high demand, only the first delegate from each organisation can book onto this workshop.

Within the workshop, Medr will provide a broad overview of the development of the new Apprenticeship Programme for Wales which will commence in August 2027. Hear first-hand about some of the key projects that are shaping developments to ensure that the programme is more responsive when addressing skills priorities for a changing economy.

2. Shaping the Future Workforce Together: Engaging Employers in Qualification Development

Qualifications Wales
This workshop will explore how to build meaningful, sustained relationships with employers, so that Qualifications Wales post-16 vocational regulated qualifications provide opportunities to develop evolving skills requirements. This workshop will provide an opportunity for providers to share their views on the opportunities and challenges of engaging with employers, and discuss how best they can contribute to the ongoing conversation on qualification design and skills needs in Wales.

3. Practical Strategies for Practitioners and Learners

Resilient Futures Coach
This interactive workshop gives practitioners a powerful set of resilience-boosting tools they can use for themselves and with their learners. Using the Resilient Futures Coach’s holistic framework, the session brings together psychology, wellbeing practice, and practical strategy to help participants manage pressure, improve focus, and support learner confidence. Attendees will explore time-management tools, emotional regulation techniques, and the G.R.E.A.T goal-setting model—leaving with a clear plan they can apply immediately in their everyday practice.

4. The Impact of Careers Guidance

Careers Wales
Discover how impartial careers guidance empowers young people to make informed decisions about their future and supports the transition from compulsory education. Join our workshop to find out how Careers Wales helps learners to consider their post-16 options, including Apprenticeships and what the impact of careers guidance is on customer outcomes.

5. AI and Skills for the Future Welsh Workforce

Artificial intelligence is reshaping skills across Wales, and apprenticeships are on the frontline. This workshop aims to bring together providers and key stakeholders to explore three key questions: What skills and digital literacies do apprentices now need? How should teaching, training and assessment adapt? And which system-wide gaps or risks will require national coordination? The session will surface priorities and opportunities for building a confident and future-ready Welsh apprenticeship system.

6. Registration and Regulation: What Providers Need To Know

Education Workforce Council
Work-based learning plays a vital role in Wales’ education and skills system, but how do registration and regulation support quality, safeguard learners, and strengthen confidence across the sector?

This session will explore the role of professional registration and regulation in work-based learning, what it means in practice for providers and practitioners, and how it helps protect learners and uphold standards. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A, offering space for open discussion on current challenges, responsibilities, and opportunities within the work-based learning landscape.

7. Literacy and Numeracy Skills for Life: Supporting Apprentices

Estyn
This workshop will give a flavour of Estyn’s recent evidence on what is working in terms of supporting apprentices’ literacy and numeracy skills. It will provide an opportunity for you to share what’s working for you and we’ll take a particular look at reading skills.

8. Regional Skills Priorities: Insights and Future Direction from RSP Chairs

Regional Skills Partnerships
Join the Regional Skills Partnership Chairs as they share the latest regional intelligence, emerging skills priorities and future plans. This session will explore how apprenticeships can respond to changing employer needs and provide delegates with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with the Chairs, hear about upcoming developments and consider how regional insight can shape the next era of apprenticeship delivery.
