PeoplePlus Cymru 2019 Learner of the Year Awards – Celebrating Achievement across Wales

PeoplePlus Cymru, celebrated the achievement and dedication of learners, employers and partners with its annual Learner of The Year Awards in its 6th year. The event took place at the National Assembly for Wales Pierhead Building, sponsored by Vikki Howells AM Welsh Assembly for Cynon Valley.

“This was a chance to celebrate the achievements of learners from across Wales, and to note the way some employers go above and beyond to help their workforce achieve their potential.” Said Vikki Howells AM.

This year’s event host Welsh Rugby Union player Shane Williams MBE won the crowd with his humour as he presented the awards during the event. Caitlin Furnell from Port Talbot took the Traineeship Engagement award, while Alex Jones from Pontypridd was awarded in the Traineeship Level One category. Lazarou Hair Group was recognised by their work with traineeships taking the Traineeship Employer of the Year Award.

In the Apprenticeship category, Nicole Lloyd from RCT took the Apprentice of the Year Award, while Barchester Carehomes was awarded the Apprenticeship Employer of the Year for their dedication to the learners.

The Employability category, which was introduced this year, awarded Daniel Savage as the Employability client of the year, and Tesco as the Employability Employer of the Year.

All finalist were celebrated in an event that concluded with a small lunch at the Pierhead.
