The Regional Learning and Skills Partnership South West and Mid Wales is currently working across the six Local Authority areas to gain an understanding on how COVID19 is impacting sectors and businesses within the region through consultation with local businesses.

As a partnership we are very aware of the stress being put on businesses during this COVID-19 pandemic and want to support business owners navigate through these unprecedented times. In July the team submitted a report to the Welsh Government outlining the economic impact on the region, providing local councils and Welsh Government with a greater understanding of the many different experiences of businesses across the region, highlighting the subsequent support required for them to be able to move forward.

Covid-19 has brought us all new challenges and over the next couple of months the RLSP will be working on a new plan which will focus on the skills needed to bring economic resilience to the region.

The RLSP wants to ensure that the voice of Welsh businesses and the self-employed are heard, therefore during September and October the team will be conducting further consultation exercises to gain an understanding of what support businesses need in the short, medium and long term allowing for an evidence based response throughout the recovery period.

The team are going to be conducting interviews with businesses over the phone during the next few weeks and an electronic survey for businesses who wish to fill it in themselves will be sent out shortly.
