Equality and Diversity
The purpose of the post was to provide the work-based learning (WBL) provider network with a supportive structure to assist them in increasing the take-up of Apprenticeships by individuals from Black Asian Minority Ethnic communities and disabled people. This assisted in responding to national strategies and provided a level of equality of opportunity to those individuals who would wish to undertake an Apprenticeship.

WBL EDI Strategy Programme
The Work-based Learning (WBL) Bilingual Champion Project was funded by Welsh Government, through the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, to support the WBL training providers in Wales to achieve targets as set out in the Welsh Medium Education Strategy; and to support the achievement of ‘Cymraeg 2050’; the Welsh Government’s vision and aim to reach one million Welsh speakers by 2050.
The project focused on the 6 key pillars (Learners, Staff, Provision, Resources, Qualifications, and Employers) to identify and overcome barriers; with the aim of increasing the number of apprentices completing their apprenticeship wholly through the medium of Welsh or bilingually.

The Quality Project was funded by the Welsh Government through the European Social Fund. It was established to lead and coordinate quality improvement across the Work-based Learning (WBL) sector in Wales. Working closely with WBL training providers in Wales to identify areas where support was needed.
The project provided support and challenge for the provider network to co-ordinate continuing professional development, the sharing of good practice and to encourage excellence, across the WBL sector.
Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales (CQFW)
The National Training Federation for Wales (NTfW)’s CQFW Project aimed to identify the impact and requirements of Work-based Learning Providers, to successfully implement the introduction of the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales (CQFW).
It was recognised that NTfW members had to be aware of the impact and requirements to address the implications of CQFW on all existing arrangements for the delivery and management of funded outcomes. NTfW was given funding by the Welsh Assembly Government to “develop and implement an action plan to implement CQFW within the training provider sector in Wales”.
