Three new board members have been elected by an organisation that represents more than 100 learning providers across Wales.
John Nash
The National Training Federation for Wales (NTfW) has welcomed John Nash, of TSW Training, Bridgend, new chair of the South Wales region together with Sarah John, of Acorn Group, Newport and Paul Napier, of Rathbone Cymru, chair and vice chair respectively from the South East Wales region.
Mr Nash began his career in engineering manufacturing and joined TSW Training as an engineering training advisor in 1989. He and two colleagues completed a management buy-out of TSW in 2007 and he has been managing director since 2012.
Having developed a wide knowledge and understanding of the work-based learning sector, he is an experienced assessor, lead verifier and a trained peer assessor.
Sarah John
Mrs John has been involved in work based learning for more than 20 years and has developed a good working relationship with a number of agencies and stakeholders. Her role with Acorn Learning Solutions incorporates finance operational delivery, bid management, and the development of innovative learning solutions for employers and learners.
Married with two children, she is a board member for LsKIP, the South East Wales Regional Learning Partnership and the NTfW’s representative on the University of Glamorgan Collaboration Forum.
Mr Napier was born in Pembrokeshire, educated in Milford Haven and went on to study Systems Analysis at Kingston Polytechnic.
After holding a number of senior posts in the work based learning sector, he was appointed Wales director for Rathbone Training, a UK-wide youth charity, in November 2012. He is passionate about skills development and training specifically for disadvantaged young people.
He represents the NTfW on the Welsh Government’s Department for Education and Skills (DfES) Review of Qualifications Implementation Groups for Stakeholder Reference and Workforce Development.
Paul Napier
The other NTfW board members are: president Lord Ted Rowlands, chief executive officer Arwyn Watkins, from Cambrian Training Company, treasurer and company secretary Alan Roberts, from Arfon Dwyfor Training, North Wales chair and vice Edwin Owen from Coleg Cambria and Sophie Martin from Grwp Llandrillo Menai, South Wales vice chair, Shirley Davis-Fox, from ISA Training, South West and Mid Wales chair and vice chair Peter Rees, from Coleg Sir Gar and Ian Fletcher from Cambrian Training Company, Traineeships Group chair Andrew Cooksley, from ACT and Operational Management Group chair Ed Phillips, from esg.
