Inspiring Skills Excellence in Wales is dedicated to helping learners across Wales develop high-level skills through vocational learning and participation in Skills Competition Wales. These competitions give learners a platform to put their abilities to the test, gain hands-on experience, and build the confidence needed to thrive in their careers. Competing at this level allows individuals to refine their technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and resilience; key qualities that employers look for in today’s workforce.

Alongside our work with further education colleges, we also collaborate with a number of Independent Training Providers (ITPs). This year we have seen engagement from ACT, ITEC Training Solutions, and Bumblebees – Little Inspirations (associated with Educ8). These providers deliver high-quality training across a range of industries, equipping learners with the practical skills and confidence needed to excel in the workplace.

At Skills Competition Wales 2025, learners from Independent Training Providers (ITPs) demonstrated their expertise, earning medals and commendations in multiple categories. Their achievements highlight the strength of work-based learning and the dedication of ITPs in developing skilled professionals ready to meet employer needs.

Beyond individual success, Skills Competition Wales plays a key role in raising industry standards and supporting the Welsh economy. By encouraging learners to refine their skills under pressure, these competitions help create a workforce that is highly competent, adaptable, and ready to meet employer demands. Businesses benefit from hiring individuals who have already demonstrated their ability to work at a high level, bringing fresh ideas, problem-solving skills, and industry-specific expertise. As a result, skills competitions contribute not only to personal career growth but also to the overall productivity and innovation of industries across Wales.

By working closely with industry and ensuring learners receive hands-on, high-quality training, ITPs make a significant contribution to Wales’ workforce and economy. As we continue to support vocational excellence, Inspiring Skills Excellence in Wales remains committed to celebrating the achievements of learners and raising the profile of skills competitions across the country.

Congratulations to this year’s medal winners. ACT Training Ltd earned a Bronze medal in Accountancy. Additionally, the following providers received highly commended recognition: Bumblebees – Little Inspirations in Child Care, ITEC Training Solutions in Inclusive Skills in Child Care, and Inclusive Skills: IT Software Solutions for Business.
